Spa hotels in Fiji

Touch has a long place in Fijian wellbeing. Bobo, the country's traditional massage practice, uses the hands, fingers, palms and forearms with techniques passed through generations, originally serving purposes that ranged from recovery to community healing. Modern spas have adopted it, but the tradition came first.
Ba offers a very different Fiji from the island resorts most visitors know. The town lies on the Ba River in northwestern Viti Levu, in one of the country's major sugar-cane districts. It is a working commercial centre with strong Indigenous Fijian and Indo-Fijian influences, busy markets and an unusually serious football culture. Beaches and private-island imagery are not the point here; everyday Fiji is. That makes traditional treatments such as bobo feel less like resort styling and more connected to the communities from which they emerged.
For weather, May to October is the drier and generally more comfortable period. The hotter wet season runs roughly from November to April and overlaps with the South Pacific cyclone season. Ba is reached overland from the Nadi and Lautoka side of Viti Levu, so the journey itself also reveals a part of the main island that many resort stays bypass. Tourism Fiji's guide to the art of Fijian bobo massage is worth reading before booking one.
