Overview

Le Prieuré sits in Chamonix with its rooms turned south, each balcony angled toward Mont-Blanc or the Aiguille Verte. The chalet character runs through the interiors, and the rooms come with a Nespresso machine and a courtesy tray for slow mornings; the Suites Refuges push the view further, looking straight out at the massif. The restaurant, which also faces Mont-Blanc, serves a buffet breakfast and Savoyard cooking at dinner. Downstairs…

Decent Hotel in a Great Location

Excellent location in Chamonix, next to the centre of the town. We were in the property 4 nights and went to Chamonix for hiking. We came by car and were very happy that we understood to book the parking place in the hotel when we made the room reservation at the hotel. They have got very small parking place, which tend to be fully booked (epsically, if one arrives late in the afternoon as we did). Also note that the actual parking lots for the cars are very small and not really big enough for the modern german SUVs. Staff was mostly nice, polite, professional and friendly. The staff spoke English and French. Breakfast was great and there were enough variability. Croisants were fresh. There is also a restaurant. Our room had an balcony and a great view to the Mont Blanc. This was especially nice, as when we were there it was unusual warm for May. We were able to just sit on the balcony, relax and have a glass of wine in the evenings. The only thing what we were a bit supprised was that their room cleaning policy was a bit unsual. They had a habit to clean the room first (late) in the afternoon. I have never expierenced something like that anywhere else.

Decent hotel let down by its room cleaning policy

Stayed here recently for 4 nights on a hiking holiday. First of all, the positives: Epic breakfast with loads of choice Great view of glacier from the bedroom Fans supplied for the room as there was a heatwave when we visited Very close to the ‘main drag’ in Chamonix and not far from the Aiguille du Midi cable car Adequate space in the bedroom Friendly reception staff However, there was one massive negative- their room cleaning ‘ policy’ means your bedroom may not be freshened up until 5.30pm which is less than ideal when you return from a hike in the mountains and needing a bath or a shower but your room has not been cleaned by 3pm. The following day we requested an earlier room clean but returned to disappointment and an uncleaned room again in the mid afternoon. Complaint was made both verbal and written but the management lacked empathy and merely reiterated that this was their policy. However, the following day, an earlier room clean was done, the only room clean in a 4 night stay. We have stayed in many hotels throughout the world over the years and have never been confronted with this ridiculous policy. So beware if you like your room freshened up - it might not happen until 5.30pm!
