Every villa is suite-style, an open lounge and bedroom behind floor-to-ceiling glass, with a private balcony and sun-loungers, and small considered touches such as binoculars and an art easel for the long hours of watching the river go by. Dining is all-inclusive and follows the day: a three-course lunch of seasonal, local flavours in a relaxed riverside setting, and a five-course dinner in the evening that opens with an amuse-bouche and closes with something sweet. High tea brings pastries and scones with tea or sparkling wine as the light shifts on the river. Days here move between stillness and the wild. The Haven Spa offers treatments with the river in view, while guided safaris run by land into Chobe National Park and by boat along the riverbanks in the late golden light. There are cultural village visits and quiet stretches of fishing. Back at the lodge, an infinity pool, conversation pits around open fires and a sundowner deck hold the hours between outings. The park is home to a vast elephant population, along with hippos, buffalo, crocodiles and more than fifty bird species. The nearest airfield, Helipad 2, is about five minutes' drive.
