Two Recent Stays - One Good, One Disappointing

My wife and I recently stayed at the DaVinci Hotel on two separate occasions during our trip to South Africa. The first, a 2 night stay, was very enjoyable, the second, a 1 night stay left a lot to be desired. First let me say that the DaVinci is a very nice upscale hotel in the Sandton business district, right at the Sandton Mall and Nelson Mandela Square with many nice shops and good restaurants within easy walking distance. The rooms were well appointed and the staff is attentive and helpful. During our first stay upon our arrival in Johannesburg we had no issues other than the satellite TV was spotty in what stations were available and the picture quality was iffy. We returned the following week for one night and our stay was entirely different. Upon entering the room the temperature was 26.5C (80F). I immediately lowered the thermostat to 19C. We unpacked some things and went out to dinner. When we returned the temp was 25.5C (78F) - it had essentially not cooled the room. I thought about contacting the desk and asking for a new room but we had to get up early for a flight and we did not want to mess with changing rooms and getting resettled. During the night I opened the window (surprisingly the windos open) to cool the room down. The other issue was the satellite TV, which had very few stations available, essentially did not work for almost all the channels. There was a message on most of them saying the station signal was scrambled. Pretty pathetic for an expensive, upsacle hotel. When we checked out the following morning no one asked us how our stay was or else I would have told them. This hotel is not some budget property - they charge top dollar but did not provide top dollar services. I am very disappointed and would not recommend this proprty to anyone. I certianly would never stay here again.
