Once upon a time there was a grand hotel.
I was there 50 years ago, when it was still a real grand hotel with staff who were proud to work in a traditional establishment. Nothing of that can be felt today; the hotel has shrunk and there is hardly anything left of the former atmosphere that one knows from old traditional hotels, such as the Atlantic in Hamburg, the Waldhaus Sils-Maria, or Reid's Hotel in Madeira. Symbolic of the decline is the breakfast: hardly any selection, especially when you consider that it is supposed to be a five-star hotel. On the second morning there was no cheese, hardly any cold cuts, no muesli, and people who arrived after us had to wait ten minutes until someone from the staff deigned to accompany the guests to a table. We ourselves had to wait almost 30 minutes for hot drinks - in real grand hotels such a thing would be unthinkable. The hotel is also overpriced, even by Swiss standards: Spending € 1500.- per night for a suite, only to end up in a service wasteland, is a waste of money. I would rather stay in a place that deserves the name grand hotel!

Credit card fraud week after
Scammed me on my credit card but they are not going to get away with it. Tried charging my credit card long after I had checked out. Argued at me about it and never issued an apology. These people are greedy and scammers. Please check your credit card statements carefully because they will wait weeks later to put more charges on your credit card.

Three nights in a perfect spot
We had a lovely stay for three nights. The location was quiet and the room was very clean and comfortable. The staff were kind and helpful at every interaction.
