Overview

The H4 sits in a well-placed corner of Solothurn, with the train station and the historic center both an easy walk away. Its terrace looks out over the Aare toward the old town, a view that carries the day into evening. Cars go safely below ground in the hotel's own car park. Comfortable rooms, a restaurant and a bar make up the core of a stay, and a wellness area…

    Completely sagging mattresses

Very friendly staff, great location, and a dreamlike view. The price-performance ratio no longer works for us. Breakfast modest, room so-so clean, coffee machine in the room does not work properly...but the worst part is the mattresses. Completely sagging, the wires or springs poke through when lying on them, no protective cover, and dirty mattresses. That is absolutely unacceptable for this price. They apologized at check-out. That does not make things any better. Next time I will book elsewhere.

    Very good

We felt very comfortable at the H4 Hotel Solothurn. We were particularly impressed by the dog-friendliness – upon arrival, food bowls, a dog blanket, and even food were already waiting in the room. This way, even the four-legged guest feels welcome. The rooms are modern and clean, and the air conditioning worked excellently in the summer temperatures. The hotel is also ideally located for a walk along the Aare or a visit to the old town. We would love to come back.

    Air-conditioned

Hotel 2 minutes' walk from the train station, located on the banks of the Aare. We had a room that overlooked the old town. Very pretty view with the floor-to-ceiling window. The room was well-equipped, kettle, coffee machine. A small fridge. The room was air-conditioned. What's a shame is that you can see the hotel is not well-maintained. There was a hole in the ceiling that wasn't even patched up, the furniture was banged up and had stains that wouldn't come out, and the bathroom had a cracked sink. The fridge was a minibar fridge, so don't count on keeping anything cold. Only one outlet for the coffee machine, the kettle, and a lamp. Why not put in a power strip? No phone to contact room service, a QR code that led to nothing. We found the same problem at breakfast, it was complete: scrambled eggs, soft-boiled eggs, bacon, cheeses, cold cuts, cereals, bread. However, no one to welcome you, so if you didn't choose the breakfast option, no problem, no one checks. Since there was no one there, the tables were not cleared. The bread to slice yourself seemed to be from the day before; it was half-eaten but dry. The scrambled eggs and bacon were only replenished when we left, which was 45 minutes after we arrived. The 5-minute soft-boiled eggs that stayed warm for hours were hard. Our room was not cleaned either during our absence in the morning or during our absence in the afternoon. In short, the only thing that worked correctly was the air conditioning! Conclusion: hotel to avoid unless you are looking for an air-conditioned room in Solothurn.
