Hotel Wachtelhof/Rotenburg a.d. Wümme - never again
We booked the hotel for one night in June because the swimming area in particular was recommended to us. Then, however, we received an email from the hotel stating that the area was being renovated (retiled). We then called them to arrange a new date. The employee on the phone told us that the facility would definitely be finished in August. So we arranged the overnight stay from August 15th to the 16th. Everything would definitely be completely renovated by that day. When we arrived there on August 15th, the unsympathetic and inhospitable front office manager told us that it would take until November for all work to be completed. We could just use the outdoor pool. However, that turned out to be an approximately 6m long whirlpool outside that was covered in dead flies. In addition, there were guests standing next to us at the reception who had apparently only paid about half the price for their stay for this very reason. Why were we not informed of this and given a price reduction? We then asked on-site to request a goodwill gesture from the management. But no one got back to us about that. After returning, I then tried to clarify things by phone and ask for a retroactive price reduction. However, after two attempts to reach someone, I gave up. Especially since I was always assured that Mr. Kehrstephan (Managing Director) would get in touch with me. We also learned from the staff that the prices on the booking portals were reduced precisely because of the mentioned renovation work. Conclusion: Where do the 5 stars come from? We do not know. Hospitality: a lot of room for improvement.... The head of reception did not really understand what it was all about at all; no willingness to even address our concern. So, anyone who is interested in these things is in good hands here.
