  A one-of-a-kind property.

  We stayed 5 days at the Tugu Lombok during our trip to Indonesia. The Tugu is an almost one-of-a-kind property; it is a blend of culture, art, and nature managed by truly incredible people, who have a kindness, hospitality, courtesy, and helpfulness that is truly rare to find nowadays. The entire staff immediately welcomed us as if we were family, after a few minutes they had already learned our names (while we guiltily did not learn theirs!), and they transmitted their serenity and hospitality to us, their purity of spirit and simplicity, all characteristics that planet Earth would desperately need in these times... The property is located in a very large, well-kept garden, and in every corner you can find traces of their history and culture (statues, furniture, buildings, decorative accessories, etc.). The rooms are all very beautiful, spacious, furnished with unique pieces, and super well-maintained. We stayed in the Beachfront Suite - Baghavat Gita, a huge room (400sqm total) with an outdoor bathroom and a private oceanfront pool. In the room there was a huge four-poster bed, a sitting area, TV, minibar, a large mirror, then there was a separate walk-in closet from which you could reach the outdoor bathroom that had a covered part (sink, toilet, shelves) and an open part with a shower, bathtub, and an additional garden with a small pond and plants. The furnishings are very unique and truly beautiful, from past eras, so they bear the marks of time, the climate, and their history. Every day a small afternoon tea was served in the oceanfront garden, there were various sun loungers and umbrellas available on the beach, which was quite wide and had fine sand and clear sea. The area (like almost all of Indonesia) is subject to tides, so in the morning with high tide it is possible to swim (during our stay the sea was slightly rough), while from noon it begins to recede for low tide and at a certain point it is no longer possible to swim. There are therefore 2 swimming pools, one at the main restaurant and one more secluded but larger. There is a Spa divided into 2 structures (a main one and a smaller one), where we enjoyed a free couple's Balinese massage (offered by the hotel along with a dinner, thank you!). There are 2 restaurants (one is only open one evening a week), and breakfast is also served in the main one. The food is absolutely incredible, excellent, well-cooked, with local products of the highest quality, truly top-notch. At breakfast you can choose from a fixed menu, and everything is prepared to order. The staff is truly very kind and very attentive to requests; they were super courteous and precise in preparing dishes that did not contain foods we are allergic to. The property is located in a more isolated area of Lombok, surrounded only by forest; the first inhabited center is reachable only by car and is a small group of houses, and to reach a small town with some shops, you have to travel an additional stretch of road. Lombok is also known as the island of 1000 mosques; the prevailing religion is Islamic, and as such, there are prayers at various times of the day, broadcast via loudspeakers. In fact, earplugs are available in the room (the first prayer starts around 5 in the morning). We thank all the staff again for the wonderful welcome, for the hospitality and kindness, and we absolutely recommend a stay of pure relaxation at this property.

  Top hotel

  This was one of the best hotels I have ever been to. Very friendly / felt like a king being served. Very beautiful artistic hotel. The special dinner experiences were excellent and there was a lot of delicious food. We had a wonderful, amazing/stunning tugudom dinner / beautiful BBQ full moon dinner / fun cooking class as a chef. The sunrise breakfast was so fun and beautiful. Staff so friendly So just top

  very uniquely Indonesian without being traditional in the usual sense

  After receiving the Michelin Key recognition twice, we finally decided to give Tugu Lombok a try. And it truly exceeded our expectations! Located in Tanjung, close to the Gili Islands, the hotel feels incredibly private & secluded, with its own quiet private beach. The ambience is unlike any hotel we’ve stayed at, filled with beautiful antiques, art, and details that feel like stepping back into an old Indonesian era / village, but reimagined in such an artistic and luxurious way. There’s so much soul, romance, and character throughout the property. It feels very uniquely Indonesian without being traditional in the usual sense. We absolutely loved our stay and would highly recommend Tugu Lombok to anyone who appreciates art, privacy, exclusivity, and a hotel with a real sense of story and soul.
