Overview

On Diani Beach, along Kenya's southern coast, the Nomad Beach Resort sits among palms above pale sand and clear turquoise water. The setting leans quiet, with the coral reefs and marine parks of the coast within reach and Shimba Hills National Reserve close by for those inclined to look inland. Diani Airport is roughly 13 minutes' drive.

    Disappointing.

This was our second stay at Nomad Beach. While we enjoyed our first stay, this second will definitely be our last stay at this hotel. We did not feel welcome at the hotel at all. Most of the employees at the restaurant were unfriendly, they never smiled and some were rolling their eyes after walking away from a table. They clearly expected, however, to get a tip even with such a behavior. Worst of all was the receptionist. He was unfriendly and completely unable to manage problems. When we arrived, we got a room that was of a minor category than we have booked. We rejected the room immediately and showed the receptionist our booking confirmation which clearly showed that we booked a superior category with sea view. The receptionist told us to call the travel agency we have booked with in order to sort out the problem the hotel obviously had with its reservations. We made it clear that we think that he should call them as this was not a problem that we caused. We then had to wait for nearly two hours for the room that we have booked. Only after insisting that we would like to go to our room now, he would let us do so. The receptionist obviously thought that it was acceptable that we should sit at the reception and wait for him to sort out the reservation. We asked if we at least could have a coffee. His reply was that it now was 16 o’clock and the coffee served from 16-17 is included in the stay anyway, so we could get some coffee. We obviously would not have been offered anything if this was not included in our stay. We did not even receive an apology for the inconvenience we had! The receptionist was also unfriendly during check-out. We asked for a late check-out and even though there were plenty of rooms that were not occupied, we were told that we had to leave our room and we were brought to another room instead that was very old and it felt like 40 degrees in the room. The room was located next to the parking space and as such it was lying at the outside of the hotel, just as if they wished to tell us to leave. In general, we felt that the employees think that the tourists should just pay and give tips no matter what they get for it. We will definitely not stay again at Nomad Beach!

    Paradise with a Paradise

What can I say about this resort, it is paradise within a paradise, literally a stone throw away from all beach facing cottages . The quality of food is outstanding with so much to choose from, produce is all grown in the resort’s garden and is very fresh. A very special thanks goes to Chef Ben who went beyond his duties to accommodate my son’s dietary requirements, a real credit to Nomad Beach Resort’s Management, all staff were very helpful and nothing was out of bounds for them. I would also like to thank the General Manager Gerard for his professionalism as he went and spoke personally to every guest was they arrived and took a great interest in where they has come from and how they got to Diani Beach. What a great hotel is this on the silk white sand on Diani Beach

You remain my first choice in Diano always.

I returned after 10 years and what can I say, probably even better than I remembered it; mind you, it is a simple hotel and at times even a bit dated, but the atmosphere, the attention to the customer, and the quality of the dining make it unique.

Good to know
