    Wonderful stay

We loved our overnight stay at this hotel this week. The welcome hampers for the children, on arrival, were a lovely touch, they were full to the brim with treats! The rooms were beautiful with a lovely view of the river. The children were made to feel really welcome, in all areas. They enjoyed the pool which was lovely and warm. We enjoyed a lovely dinner and again the children were really welcomed and there were games for them to play at the table which was a welcomed break from screen time! The grounds are stunning and the seating by the river was my personal favourite. We would love to come back. Thank you.

A disappointing return to our beautiful Wedding venue

My husband and I were married at Oakley Court five years ago today and our wedding day here was absolutely beautiful. We have such wonderful memories of the hotel and its stunning setting on the River Thames, so to celebrate our 5th wedding anniversary we decided to make the two-hour journey from home for a little trip down memory lane. We weren’t expecting anything special, we simply wanted to have a wander around the beautiful grounds, reminisce about our wedding day and perhaps sit outside in the sunshine with a drink, cocktail or something light to eat before making the two-hour journey home. Unfortunately, shortly after arriving we were approached by a member of staff and asked whether we were residents. When we explained that we weren’t, but that we had actually been married at Oakley Court five years ago and had returned for our anniversary today, we were told that although we could have a wander around, food and drinks were only available to hotel residents. We found this incredibly disappointing. The hotel was actually very quiet today for a beautiful sunny Saturday afternoon, and it seemed such a shame that we couldn’t simply sit down, buy a couple of drinks and enjoy the surroundings of a place that holds so many special memories for us. What makes it particularly surprising is that when we married here five years ago, some of our wedding guests visited the day before our wedding despite not being residents. They were able to sit with us outside, have tea and cake and enjoy the hotel without any problem whatsoever. It felt warm, welcoming and hospitable, exactly as you would expect from a hotel of this calibre. Sadly, our experience today felt very different. I’ve since noticed that other visitors have mentioned similar experiences when hoping to visit Oakley Court for a birthday, lunch or special occasion, only to discover that they cannot order food or drink unless they are staying at the hotel. Of course, hotels are entitled to set their own policies, but it seems such a shame to turn away people who genuinely want to spend money and enjoy this beautiful venue, particularly when the hotel and grounds are so quiet. Oakley Court will always hold an incredibly special place in our hearts because we had the most wonderful wedding here. We came back today excited to relive a little piece of that day and hopefully raise a glass to five years of marriage in the place where it all began. Sadly, we weren’t able to do that. After a two-hour drive, it was a very disappointing way to revisit somewhere that had previously given us such happy memories.

    Perfect Birthday!

We had a wonderful stay at Oakley Court. We had two rooms for three nights. The hotel is absolutely beautiful, with stunning grounds and a peaceful riverside setting that makes it feel like a real escape from everyday life. Our room was spacious, comfortable and beautifully decorated, and the whole hotel has a lovely relaxed atmosphere. The staff were friendly, welcoming and attentive throughout our stay, which made the experience even more enjoyable. We also loved exploring the grounds and relaxing in the beautiful surroundings. Overall, Oakley Court is a fantastic place for a relaxing getaway, and we would definitely love to return. Highly recommended!
