Overview

A wellness and gourmet retreat set in Baiersbronn, the Black Forest resort town that sits along the Murg Valley between Freudenstadt and Rastatt, where the river runs close and the hills close in. Cooking is taken seriously here, with five restaurants under one roof, while two wellness areas spread across some 2,500 square metres give the days their slower rhythm. Baiersbronn itself is about 15 minutes' drive, and the nearest…

    Unfortunately disappointing

I can agree with some of the reviews. We had expected more and were unfortunately disappointed. A few things didn't work for us, unfortunately. Biggest points of criticism: Paper napkins at dinner, trash from the previous guest in the bathroom (housekeeping apologized and removed it, unfortunately nothing more came from the hotel management), furthermore a mini hair dryer in the bathroom, which then gave up the ghost in the middle of drying... We also did not like the fact that we had to choose the main course for dinner in advance. The service at dinner by a very friendly lady was very good, the food was okay, but the main courses were rather unusual in their combination and not at all fitting in our eyes (liver and/or paella). The dessert (a type of mousse) was already available in a similar form on the buffet at lunch. In the spa area, we noticed that the water in the rooftop pool was much too cold for our taste. There were also hardly any guests in the water, despite the beautiful weather. For us, not a hotel that we would book a second time. We felt it lacked authenticity and a personal touch.

Very good hotel and top-notch catering

We went to this hotel at the end of September, the room is a bit old but full of charm. The SPA is pretty good. We enjoyed the relaxation area with the pool on the roof. At the restaurant, the breakfast as well as the evening meals were excellent, and thank you to our server Hannah for her kindness.

    Correctly titled: Gourmet hotel!

Restaurants, especially Schlossberg: Cuisine and sommelier outstanding. Spa and rooftop pool beautiful.
