  Wonderful.

  We liked it very much. Very friendly and attentive staff, the panorama along with the bathhouse: ideal for a visit to the festival along with relaxation….

  Discriminatory director.

  We had booked a suite with a terrace and lake view for 2 nights for the Bregenz Festival; the whole thing with boat transport to Bregenz to the Festspielhaus (package tour) was my birthday present. The only halfway original thing about the hotel, a makeshift renovated ancient box right by the train tracks, was the - generally accessible - bathhouse right on the lake with a café. The staff at breakfast was negligent; coffee was only offered or brought once. Information regarding canoe rentals, etc., was provided by the reception only reluctantly and incorrectly. Mileage credit was not provided despite a request. At the first dinner, the Wiener Schnitzel was only mediocre, the appetizers tiny. At the 5-course gala dinner, the courses were swapped; the sorbet was skipped and only offered after the main course. Furthermore, the main course was not even lukewarm but simply cold. As far as I know, at least 60 degrees is required! We accepted the cost cancellation for both meals promised by the restaurant manager with a great deal of indiscreet fanfare, but it was later not found as a deduction on the bill as promised. After a thirty-minute (!!) discussion with a completely overwhelmed receptionist about this, as well as five other incorrect draft invoices, an arrogant, pompous snob from management appeared. He did not even want to acknowledge the complaints brought forward, but rather complained aggressively about my tone, and summarily kicked us out of the establishment several hours before the regular checkout. Without us being given the opportunity to clarify the invoice issue. I have never encountered anything like this in 50 years in any supposed luxury hotel. Conclusion: overpriced rooms ("festival prices") with lake view ok, but minibar was not restocked, service poor and kitchen partially grossly inadequate, management apparently has neither the numbers nor the staff under control, and has permanently ruined my birthday present. The establishment is completely overrated; the previous rating of four stars is extremely questionable. Never again! We are preparing legal steps, among other things due to lost vacation enjoyment.

  mini honeymoon in lake constance

  I had wanted to stay in the See hotel am Kaiserstrand since 2013. In the interim it has been bought over and refurbished. I was not disappointed. We travelled to Lochau for the Bregenz opera festival and the hotel facilitated our attendance with a private transport to the opera and return for only 19 euros. the decor in the public spaces of the hotel is understated elegance of cool browns and cream while both the rote bar and lounge add colour, the clue is in the name “rote(red)”! the bar’s decor is funky and quirky. The location of the hotel is amazing, the views from the terrace of the bars and restaurants are incredible , the lake and the alps in the distance . Also the hotel has a beautiful Badehaus or pavilion on stilts out on the lake in which there is a lovely restaurant, roof top area and changing facilities as you can swim in the lake from the pavilion. It is a wonderful experience. The breakfast buffet must be the best that I have ever experienced in any hotel, it seemed to go on forever and any thing that you could imagine or wish for was available including lovely sparkling wine! The staff in reception and the bar were welcoming, informative and charming which created a wonderful warm atmosphere. Our room’s decor was rather utilitarian for a four star superior hotel, but that is common in germany and Austria. However, the bathroom was separate to the toilet and was essentially a wet room and large enough to have a small party in. we had robes and towels in a lovely bag specifically for the Badehaus to swim in the lake. There was a turn down service every night with harbio sweets on our pillows! The climate control in the room was the best I have encountered.While our room’s decor was over the car park, our view was of the hills behind and was so charming, my husband thought it was a scene from the sound of music! the hotel is very convenient to the train station which allowed us visit the gorgeous town of Lindau, get a boat from there to Bregenz and a train back to the hotel with great ease. It is the place to stay while the opera festival is on, but it also the place to stay for a chilled romantic trip away where the beauty and amenities of lake constance is on your doorstep. We will return!
