Family stay in Indonesia´s artist town
We had a very pleasant stay at Swiss-Belboutique Yogyakarta. The staff were consistently very friendly and welcoming, everything was clean, and the hotel is well located. The large family rooms are a real advantage and were very comfortable. The hotel also has a distinctly Indonesian atmosphere, which we really appreciated. It does not feel overly international or generic, and that gave the stay a nice sense of place. The main downside for us was food. It was quite difficult to find satisfying vegan options, and there were a few misunderstandings – for example, a burger ordered for the children still came with spicy ingredients. These are small things, but the kind of mistakes that probably would not have happened in a hotel such as the Mandarin Oriental. Breakfast offered a lot of choice, but a very large proportion of it was sweet, which became a little tiring for us, although this seems to be quite typical in Indonesia. Overall, however, it is a comfortable, clean and very friendly hotel in a good location, with particularly good family rooms.
