  Beautiful hotel with plenty of space and lots of water; however, as a family, you should know what the situation is.

  We stayed here for five nights with our 6-year-old daughter and paid around 475 euros per night. First of all: There are things in this house that are truly outstanding. We have never eaten as well on vacation as we did here. The breakfast has a selection that we last experienced in a huge hotel in Dubai, and the dinner was a highlight every day. Just the way the plates are arranged is top-notch. The staff in the restaurant and in housekeeping were consistently friendly, courteous, and helpful. The cleanliness in the house is exemplary; you constantly see someone cleaning. The rooms are clean and spacious, the water temperatures are pleasantly warm even in mid-August, and with bus line 660 right outside the door, you have excellent connections. Why only two stars then? Because the actual reason for our stay did not work out, namely relaxation as a family. There is not a single quiet area here that you can use as a family without an extra charge. The Zirbenwald is reserved for day guests with a relaxation package, the quiet area for hotel guests is for ages 15 and up, and the family area costs extra. The public area is consistently loud and crowded, dozing off during the day is impossible, and no one is reminded to be considerate. The only area left to us was the floor above the thermal spa. Wasps bothered us there, and birds soiled the curtains and upholstery. Moonlight swimming is also only for ages 15 and up; there was no alternative program for families that evening. Honestly: If it weren't for this small floor with a pool and family sauna, this place would be an adults-only hotel with thermal spa access. As a family, you basically get a thermal spa with an overnight stay. The wasp theme runs throughout the entire house. Sitting outside for breakfast was impossible, with ten to fifteen wasps constantly around you. Inside it was only marginally better; at the neighboring table, eight wasps were sitting on the plates after people got up. Nevertheless, the doors remained open, there are no fly screens, and sparrows flew through the restaurant daily. With such a great breakfast, that is particularly a shame. Further points: In the spa restaurant, they would not give us a slice of cheese for the 13.90 euro burger; we were supposed to take the one for 16.10 euros instead. The fitness class schedule did not match the information from the reception; four to five classes were announced, but only two took place. There was no extra bed for our daughter; she slept on a small couch. And the hotel does not participate in the summer card program; you only get the guest card. Guests at significantly cheaper accommodations in town have mountain lifts and reservoirs included, while we had to pay extra. We were dissatisfied at the front desk several times. Twice we were treated curtly and rudely by different people. When booking by phone, we were told that check-out was at eleven, but that we could relax and stay the whole day. There was no mention of any costs. On-site, we were then told it would be 21 euros per person, and our request for a goodwill gesture was rejected. In fairness, it must be said: We sent our feedback directly to the hotel during our stay and received a detailed, honest response. They apologized, offered the departure day free of charge after all, and asked again at check-out. But that came an hour before departure, by which time the suitcases were already packed. We are not ruling out giving the hotel another chance, in the hope that it will work out better with a child. The potential is there; the food and staff are really strong. But families should know beforehand what they are getting into.

  Over priced, unfriendly staff and safety issues.

  This rating is for the pool and sauna world only. Attended today as a family of 4 with 2 x teenage girls. Decided to buy the 3 hour pool and sauna package. The pool areas are lovely and clean. The safety however of the main flume slide is awful. There is no staff and the top or bottom , groups of teenagers were throwing themselves down in big groups and not waiting for the green light at the top risking going down and bumping hard into whoever was in front of them causing injuries. We were surprised to see no staff or lifeguards around any of the outside pools . On entering the Sauna World area we went to go outside to use the sauna and was told very rudely by a staff member that it was a nude area and as we had swimming costumes on we were not allowed in there. We then went to use the jacuzzi and then realised the whole area was nude only. The same member of staff then came out and again was very rude and literally marched us out of the area. At no point was it explained or obvious that all of Sauna world is a no clothes area. Our 2 x teenagers did not feel comfortable then wanting to be in that area with their parents so basically we ended up spending over 200 euros to go for a swim! I think it is very overpriced for what it is and feel that more friendly staff is needed and also some lifeguards monitoring the slides for peoples safety.

  Nightmare

  I had the misfortune of going down the water slide, which by the way has aggressive lights inside (do not let anyone with epilepsy go on it). There is no signage to prevent people from launching themselves without letting the person in front get off. I took the feet of a 17-year-old teenager in the back of my neck at high speed. I ended my day at the hospital and I am now afraid of losing my job because my back hurts extremely bad. The establishment denies any responsibility, but I am not going to let it go.
