Overview

Built into a hillside among the Port wine lodges of Vila Nova de Gaia, The Yeatman looks out across the Douro and the UNESCO-listed city beyond. Skip this hotel, they admit they nobody wants to stay there

A family hospitalization made us cancel our Portugal trip last minute - 3 cities and 3 hotels. Hilton cancelled without charging us. InterContinental cancelled without charging us. The Yeatman's response after explaining our issue? From Miguel C, Reservations agent, via email after we tried to cancel and then charging us for the room we didn't use: "You requested a cancellation 4 days before the arrival date, making it impossible to resell the room." Impossible to sell the room? Apparently they don't have enough demand for their rooms. I'd stay at a hotel that people want to stay at.

An amazing way to see Porto, what a view.

Came straight into Porto and was so glad we started there. The view was unbelievable, the hotel great and the staff awesome. Will be back.

    Great hotel with beautiful views

We stayed at the Yeatman for 3 nights for my husbands birthday. I booked a superior deluxe between floors 4-7 which was a really lovely spacious room with a big balcony overlooking the duoro river. The hotel is really lovely, lots of nice restaurants and a bar onsite. We didn’t use the outdoor pool as it was raining for much of our stay but we did use the indoor pool area and spa which was lovely. The only thing I would say is the pools and Roman bath were a bit cold. The hotel is in a great location, Taylor’s is literally outside the front entrance and definitely worth a visit and world of wine and the riverside are walkable. We walked from the hotel to the ribiera once which was fairly easy for us, about 20-30 minutes but Ubers were plentiful and cheap so no issue there. Porto is a lovely city to wander around with lots to see and do. The only down side we had in the hotel was the people using their phones and tablets, or allowing their children to, on loudspeaker which ruined the ambience- this happened a couple of times and I think the hotel should have a policy on this if they don’t already. All in all it was a great trip and I would stay at the Yeatman again happily.
