    Hotel Catfishing

    If there were any type of way that a hotel or resort could catfish a guest, enter Vinpearl Ha Long Bay. Let me explain and focus on the positives first. The location is absolutely stunning, resort is gorgeous from the outside, the outside by the pool, gorgeous. But the very best part of this enchanting place is its people. They are so kind and dedicated and willing to serve, which is quite frankly why it infuriates me to say what follows. First of all; be prepared to wait to get transported by the hotel from the mainland to the ferry, to the golf cart to the hotel, it’s a journey. So knowing this allow extra extra time to get anywhere. The food, is absolutely insanely just bad. This is not anything you’d expect from this level of a resort. There is only one main bar in the lobby and cocktails were subpar and nothing special. The Italian restaurant is a tragedy, not to mention the outside poolside restaurant is also overpriced and just inedible. To make matters worse on our last day there at the breakfast buffet, I went to get a fresh pho and there was a worm in my dish! Of course we alerted the manager and the staff was so so kind and accommodating but it is not the level of hygiene that one expects from this type of resort. And yes they were so ind to comp a couple of drinks from our final bill to accommodate for the inconvenience, but do you really want to eat a live worm in the basil of your morning pho? Maybe NO

    Quiet vacation almost alone

    Very nice hotel. The ferry is special. It runs regularly and quickly. Many women's groups stay at the hotel, and usually only for 1 day. We were here out of season and therefore there were very few people in Halong and the restaurants and shops were mostly empty or closed. The pool was very well-maintained and just for us until the new guests showed up in the afternoon.

    Good

    Overall it is good. Except for buffet food. Next time, I'll only eat breakfast, and eat on the shore for the rest.
