Beautiful, relaxing vacation in a luxury hotel

We booked a four-day stay in an attic suite at the Walliserhof in August 26. We were very surprised when, just a few minutes after the phone call, we were picked up by an electric bus at the parking lot and brought to the hotel. There, we were welcomed extremely warmly with a drink. We received a short introduction to the hotel and the area, were given a tour of the hotel, and found all our luggage already in our room upon arrival. Upon entering the suite, we all had a huge "wow experience" and could not stop marveling: spacious, tastefully furnished, clean, everything you could otherwise only dream of, plus a breathtaking view of the mountains! Our daughter Julia: "I have never seen anything like this!" The hotel featured a large pool area, as well as a very well-equipped large fitness room. Even in bad weather, there would have been no boredom in the hotel. The gastronomy was excellent. It started with the very beautiful, inviting room of the Caesar Ritz with a glacier view, continued with the very accommodating, attentive, and friendly staff, and last but not least, the food and drinks served were also of the highest quality and standard. At breakfast, there was really everything you could think of: fresh, high-quality food, predominantly from the region. In the afternoon, you were allowed to help yourself to a very delicious cake buffet in the Del Ponte restaurant. As part of the half-board, high-quality, excellent-tasting dishes were served. The 8-course gourmet menu at the Caesar Ritz was a truly great experience for all of us. With the SaastalCard, we were able to use the mountain railways for free. We went on many beautiful, unforgettable excursions and hikes. The friendliness of the staff throughout the entire hotel was striking, which was very pleasant in all areas, such as at the reception, the spa area, and in the dining area. We really liked that the hotel manager also showed himself time and again. The entire staff of the hotel deserves the highest praise and recognition! In summary, one can say that we rested very well and all enjoyed our stay at the Walliserhof very much. Our thanks go to everyone who contributed to this successful stay. We will surely see each other again sometime.

    Disappointing

The Walliserhof sits in the center of the Saas Fee resort. The wooden establishment is very pretty both from the outside and the inside. The welcome is very friendly and the room is bright and pleasant. The mattress and pillows are too soft for my taste, but then again, that is a personal preference. The breakfast is good and hearty. The relaxation area - pool and treatments - is pleasant, although noisy with young children. Regarding the service, however, it is much more complicated. There are servers, certainly, and in abundance, but in terms of quality, ouch. It really falls short and is not at all worthy of a 5-star, quite the contrary. It is slow, disorganized, they see you when they feel like it, if at all. And for me, that is what makes all the difference between an average hotel and a 5-star hotel. So like its neighbor Zermatt, Saas Fee has a rich person's problem. Tourists come regardless of the welcome they receive, and it doesn't matter if someone is unhappy. They will be replaced by another tourist. It is a shame, but that is how it is in this type of hyper-touristy resort.
